In Loving Memory of

Scarlett Elizabeth Middleton

 June 26, 2013 – July 12, 2018

Our beloved Scarlett Elizabeth Middleton, of St. Petersburg, Florida (age five) entered the Kingdom of Heaven on July 12, 2018, suddenly and unexpectedly.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”
(Proverbs31:25)

Scarlett loved playing with her brothers and sister, dancing and ballet, swimming, flamingoes, jigsaw puzzles, and Disney Princesses, especially Ariel from the Little Mermaid. Her favorite thing was family snuggle time. She spread kindness everywhere by sharing her sunshine with everybody she met. It was often said that “She would bring sunshine into any room.” She was truly a lovely child.

“It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine.”
(Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh)

Our Sweetheart Sissy was selfless and giving even at her young age. When given a treat, big or small, she would give to others first, even if only one was left. She rarely asked for anything. Her humble, content and selfless spirit showed a grace we all should hope to possess. It was so easy to want to spoil her with gifts and surprises because she was always so grateful and appreciative.

“A little consideration, a little thought for others makes all the difference.”
(Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh)

During our last weekend with her, we took her on a special Big Girls’ Weekend, just Holly, Gummi, and Scarlett, celebrating her fifth birthday in Orlando, where we created a lifetime of memories in one weekend. Her Mommy and Grandma Trott (Gummi) bought her a new American Doll girl and gave her a magical Princess Ariel makeover at Disney. Her smile did not leave her face all weekend. We know that the weekend was a gift from God as a beautiful send-off from this world to the next and practice as a princess for a day here, preparing for an eternity as a Princess to the King in Heaven.

While the Middleton and Trott families are experiencing excruciating grief and anguish, they take solace in the fact that Scarlett is now experiencing joy that none of us here on Earth can even fathom. We also feel tremendous gratitude to God for blessing us with five years in the presence of his angel child Scarlett.

“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
(1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18).

Her favorite song was “You are My Sunshine” which is fitting since she was everyone else’s sunshine.

“You are My Sunshine”

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine You make me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken and I hung my head and cried

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine You make me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
I love you more every day
